This month, we're focusing on prayers for courageous people like you. This Sunday, we'll be praying with the early church, "Embolden us."

The story goes like this: Peter and John were arrested for standing up for their faith and healing a paralytic. They were thrown in jail, put on trial, and somehow released. When they returned to the church, they interrupted a prayer meeting and shared what had happened.

Instead of praying for the threats to stop or for more palatable ways to share the gospel, they prayed something like this:   "Lord, you see their threats. Make us bold to get in trouble more."

Why is that a wise prayer? How is that even reasonable? Do we have an option, but to be bold for the Gospel?

Diesen Monat konzentrieren wir uns auf Gebete für mutige Menschen wie dich. Diesen Sonntag beten wir mit den ersten Christen: "Mach uns mutig".

Die Geschichte geht wie folgt: Petrus und Johannes wurden verhaftet, weil sie für ihren Glauben eintraten und einen Gelähmten heilten. Sie wurden in den Kerker geworfen, vor Gericht gestellt und schließlich freigelassen. Als sie in die Gemeinde zurückkehrten, unterbrachen sie ein Gebetstreffen und erzählten, was geschehen war.

Anstatt dafür zu beten, dass die Drohungen aufhören oder dass sie das Evangelium auf angenehmere Weise weitergeben können, beteten sie in etwa so: "Herr, du siehst ihre Drohungen. Mach uns mutig, damit wir mehr Ärger bekommen."

Warum ist das ein kluges Gebet? Wie kann das überhaupt vernünftig sein? Haben wir eine andere Wahl, als uns mutig für das Evangelium einzusetzen?

This month we look at prayers for courageous people like you.

This Sunday we will pray with Isaiah, "Send me." Why is this a bold prayer?

It's bold because, If I’m praying that, I’m assuming that God can use me. Yes, why not send someone else? Where does this sense of mission come from? How does Isaiah know that he is the right one? This Sunday is therefore exelent for all self-doubters. (Is anyone in the room?)

It is also courageous because it entrusts the consequences to God. "Send me." Where? How? When? Isaiah leaves it all up to God. This Sunday is amazing for all those who would like to know everything in advance.

How can Isiaiah be so brave? How can you and I become more courageous? That's what this Sunday is all about.

Diesen Monat schauen wir uns Gebete für mutige Menschen wie dich an.

Diesen Sonntag werden wir mit Jesaja beten: "Sende mich". Warum ist das ein mutiges Gebet?

Es ist mutig, weil ich davon ausgehe, dass Gott mich brauchen kann. Ja warum denn nicht jemand anders? Woher kommt denn dieses Sendebewusstsein? Woher weiss Jesaja, dass er der richtige ist? Dieser Sonntag ist darum super für alle Selbstzweifler.

Es ist auch mutig, weil es die Konsequenzen Gott anvertraut. “Sende mich”. Wohin? Wie? Wann? Jesaja überlässt das alles Gott. Dieser Sonntag ist darum super für alle die gerne alles im Voraus wissen möchten.

Wie kann man nur so mutig sein? Wie kannst du und ich mutiger werden? Darum geht es diesen Sonntag.

Praying is important and praying gives strength. Let’s pray together for the following points!

PRAYER LIST:
a) Thank God that we have been growing as a church. Pray for bold workers in the field.
b) Thank the Lord for financial provision at C3 - pray that we might continue to be a blessing to others even if times get harder
c) Pray for each and everyone of us to boldly share the Gospel
d) Pray for unity in diversity, and the leadership of the church
e) Pray for each other, for boldness to do what God has called you
