In this series, Summer of Psalms, we want to discover practical ways to worship.<\/div>\n
What is Worship, beyond singing songs?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Worship is a choice.<\/strong><\/div>\n
It\u2019s saying Yes\u00a0and saying\u00a0No:<\/div>\n
\n
1\u00a0Blessed\u00a0is\u00a0the\u00a0man<\/div>\n
who\u00a0walks\u00a0not\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0counsel\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0wicked,<\/div>\n
nor\u00a0stands\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0way\u00a0of\u00a0sinners,<\/div>\n
nor\u00a0sits\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0seat\u00a0of\u00a0scoffers;<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Here it talks about 3 postures: Walking, standing, sitting.<\/div>\n
As far as I understand the meaning of these words in that context it means the following:<\/div>\n
    \n
  • Walking is \u201epractise, or repeated actions, customs\u201c<\/li>\n
  • Standing means \u201eto remain in certain processes»<\/li>\n
  • Sitting is \u201egetting position and identity from something and someone»<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    1. So Worship is the descision to say No\u00a0to wrong customs:<\/strong>\u00a0Often times an unhealty culture comes from the wrong influences. What do I watch? What do I read? Where do I get my opinion from?\u00a0It’s a good question to take a step back and think: Where am I walking in bad counsel? Where am I listening repeatedly to wrong voices?<\/li>\n
    2. Worship is also the decision to \u00a0Say No\u00a0to remain in wrong processes:<\/strong>\u00a0If I am exposing myself to situations that have to end sinful, that’s when I’m standing in the way of sin.\u00a0If you open that Webpage\u2026 Sin will hit you.\u00a0If you chat with coworker and you know she hates that other girl, and you mention that other girl\u2026. Sin will hit you!\u00a0If you where honest, you would have known, it would happen.\u00a0So maybe it is a good question to reflect: Where am I standing in the way of sinners?<\/li>\n
    3. Worship is also the decision to\u00a0say No\u00a0to sitting with scoffers:\u00a0<\/strong>Jesus never elevated himself by lowering others.\u00a0And this is what mockery is.\u00a0Sometimes it\u2019s disguised really empathic!\u00a0\u201eAh! This or that person really needs help! \u2026»\u00a0So maybe it is a good question to reflect right now:\u00a0Is there a place I get my position from lowering others?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      Ultimately, worship can’t be just to say No.\u00a0We have to say yes to something.<\/div>\n
      It is the Yes to the voice of God through His word, that is able to replace those three things!<\/strong><\/div>\n
      \n
      2\u00a0but\u00a0his\u00a0delight\u00a0is\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0law\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Lord,<\/div>\n
      and\u00a0on\u00a0his\u00a0law\u00a0he\u00a0meditates\u00a0day\u00a0and\u00a0night.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
      So instead of getting my culture from the world, I culture myself from the word.\u00a0Instead of standing in the way of Sinners, I stand in the way of the Word, and God will meet me.\u00a0Instead of sitting with scoffers, I am seated in heavenly places and from that posture I don\u2019t fight anymore for recognition. The bible describes the outcome of that like this:<\/div>\n
      \n
      3\u00a0He\u00a0is\u00a0like\u00a0a\u00a0tree<\/div>\n
      planted\u00a0by\u00a0streams\u00a0of\u00a0water<\/div>\n
      that\u00a0yields\u00a0its\u00a0fruit\u00a0in\u00a0its\u00a0season,<\/div>\n
      and\u00a0its\u00a0leaf\u00a0does\u00a0not\u00a0wither.<\/div>\n
      \u00a0In\u00a0all\u00a0that\u00a0he\u00a0does,\u00a0he\u00a0prospers.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
      Set yourself up for a place of vitality, and growth and being alive:\u00a0Root yourself into the word.\u00a0You know what I love about this verse? It\u2019s that part: it\u2019s fruit in its season!\u00a0Some seasons require patience, other seasons require joy, because joy is scarce.<\/div>\n
      Some season require goodness, or self-control, because you have opportunities not to be good and self controlled.<\/div>\n
      <\/div>\n
      In Galatians 5:22-23 it says:<\/div>\n
      \n
      But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
      you know how you will bring your the right fruit in the right season?\u00a0Letting the spirit guiding you in reading, listening to the active, living word of God for you.\u00a0Say Yes to the word.<\/div>\n
      Well what\u2019s the alternative?\u00a0If I do walk in the way of the wicked, If I do sit with the scoffers, I do stand in the way of sinners?<\/div>\n
      \n
      4\u00a0The\u00a0wicked\u00a0are\u00a0not\u00a0so,<\/div>\n
      but\u00a0are\u00a0like\u00a0chaff\u00a0that\u00a0the\u00a0wind\u00a0drives\u00a0away.<\/div>\n
      5\u00a0Therefore\u00a0the\u00a0wicked\u00a0will\u00a0not\u00a0stand\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0judgment,<\/div>\n
      nor\u00a0sinners\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0congregation\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0righteous;<\/div>\n
      6\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0Lord\u00a0knows\u00a0the\u00a0way\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0righteous,<\/div>\n
      but\u00a0the\u00a0way\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0wicked\u00a0will\u00a0perish.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      – where do I see repeated actions or customs that are unhealthy?<\/div>\n
      – where do I see ways that always seem to end the same, bad way?<\/div>\n
      – are there moments I get my position from lowering others?<\/div>\n
