2 Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Our decisions have different triggers and motivational drives behind it. So if Paul says, that Love compels him, how does it look like, when Love is the driving force behind our decisions?<\/p>\n

Jesus, being asked a similar\u00a0question, \u00a0instead of giving a recipe, he tells a story:<\/p>\n

Luke 10:30 \u201cA man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, \u2018Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back. (ESV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For me the answer would be:<\/p>\n

Love compels us to stop.<\/h2>\n

In \u00a0the parable of The Good Samaritan was taken as a template for a\u00a0social research\u00a0(Darely & Batson, 1973<\/a>), researching the effect of hurry on altruistic decision making.\u00a0They asked forty\u00a0students about their beliefs.
\nAnd then they told them to go and give a talk on one of two\u00a0themes:\u00a01.) About ministry and jobselection \/ or:\u00a02.) About The Good Samaritan.<\/p>\n

Then they were sent off to give that talk in another building.\u00a0The first group was \u00a0basically told: \u201eOh! I\u2019m sorry. You are late. Better hurry now.\u201c\u00a0The second group was told: \u201eOK. Good, go over now, you\u2019ll be right on time.\u201c\u00a0The last group was told: \u201eYou have plenty time, but go over now, so you are ready when it\u2019s on.\u201c<\/p>\n

In the doorway of the second building was an actor, laying on the ground and groaning.\u00a0The professors recorded who would stop.<\/p>\n

The good news: People talking about the good samaritan would stop nearly twice as much. (So priming yourself with the bible is not a bad idea at all.)\u00a0The bad news: That\u2019s out of the group of people who really stopped.<\/p>\n

The biggest effect on the question of stopping\u00a0was time:<\/p>\n
